Kia hits 50,000 sales target with time to spare

It was once seen by many in the industry as a target too far, but Kia Motors Australia has swept past the 50,000 sales marker with a full month still to run to the end of 2017.

On the back of greater than 20 per cent year-on-year growth over the past three years, what was once seemingly unattainable is now firmly in the rear view mirror.

“It is a significant achievement, and one that everybody associated with Kia Motors Australia, our company staff, our dealers and suppliers, should be justly proud of,” KMAu Chief Operating Officer Damien Meredith said.

“This outcome has been built on sound business practices, high quality product, consistency of brand positioning and an uncompromised determination to deliver satisfaction to our customers.”

Leading the way for KMAu was the Cerato with more than 17,200 sales to the end of November, well supported by the stylish Sportage with almost 12,400 new models delivered. Rio, with close to 6000 sales, the segment-dominating Carnival with 5330 and multi-award winning Sorento (4245) played a significant role.

Mr Meredith also acknowledged the role that the move to an industry-leading 7 Year Warranty played in the upward trend in purchase consideration and sales.

“The 7 Year Warranty, along with 7 Year Capped Price Service and Roadside Assist, has given buyers looking for a new car a legitimate reason to consider a Kia, something they may not have done previously.”

However, Mr Meredith said that the 50,000 milestone is not an end in itself, but rather a step along a longer road.

“It is a great result, but like a batsman reaching a 50, it is a job half done,” Mr Meredith said. “We will take a moment to acknowledge the milestone, raise the bat and then put the head down and get back in the game. There are a lot more runs to be made.”
